The incumbent is a member of Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) within the Prosthetic Service Line under the VISN or medical center and is assigned to the VA Medical Center and has an active inpatient implant care coordination and outpatient treatment program and inventory responsibility.
The Medical Support Assistant functions as serving as an initial point of contact for the units, clinics, patient, to include, but not limited to, scheduling patient appointments, tracking, reviewing, and responding to electronic orders and consults in the organizational medical systems. This position requires a practical knowledge of computerized data entry, information processing systems and software related to patient care, utilizing medical records, and medical terminology.
About the Position: This position is located at Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital, Fort Polk, Louisiana.
This position serves as a Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist for non-expendable (NX) assets/materials for the Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System supervising multiple supply or material classes/series and recognized as the Material Management Division's subject matter expert serving as an advisor and consultant to leadership on property management matters for sound material management concepts, practices, and control of all personal property.
