Job Summary

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff.

Job Description

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or General Management required. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a financial management operations environment in the government and/or private sector. Strong computer proficiency, including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant, Certified Government Financial Manager, and/or other related professional certification preferred. A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in asset management, audit, financial reporting, compliance, or risk management preferred. A minimum of 3 years progressive supervisory/managerial experience preferred. Knowledge, Skill, and Ability (KSA) Requirements: Ability to manage cross functional or inter-disciplinary employee work teams, and delegate, direct, and coordinate workload within an organization. Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and applicable Federal standards, laws, regulations, and policies affecting the financial management of the House. Ability to interpret and translate complex financial information into a useful knowledge base to educate the House community. Knowledge of internal controls, financial reporting, financial accountability, asset capitalization, asset accounting management, maintenance of complex financial records, reconciliation of accounting information, and preparation of various reports. Knowledge of inventory management, including asset disposal management, asset receiving and processing management, and inventory/data reconciliation. Ability to ensure quality control. Knowledge of, and the ability to develop/maintain, policies, procedures, and processes. Knowledge of/ability to use various automated financial systems and state of the art accounting and asset and inventory management software programs (e.g., PeopleSoft Financial System). Knowledge of/ability to use Microsoft Office Suite. Organizational, analytical, consultative, and presentation skills. Ability to manage deadline pressures and multiple challenging assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Ability to appropriately manage and allocate resources.
