Job Description

Required Work Experience One (1) to three (3) years of experience in project management, coordination and/ or physical change management, and a minimum of one (1) year Congressional experience. Required Special Skills/ Knowledge Knowledge of, or ability to learn, departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and functions, including policies and regulations set by the Senate Rules Committee, the Senate Committee on Ethics, and the Architect of the Capitol pertaining to facilities management. Knowledge of office equipment, computers, relevant software/web applications, spreadsheets, and databases. Ability to communicate and manage complex projects with diplomacy, tact, and professional bearing. Strong writing and analytical skills and the ability to formulate written content on a variety of subjects in a range of styles. Ability to conduct research and accurately prepare and process a variety of reports and documents. Ability to obtain Change Management certification. As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role. Desired Qualifications A demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in a professional environment, preferably in the United States Senate or other government settings. Experience working in a congressional office. Progressive experience in project management or change management. Proven ability to design, implement, and improve systems and workflows that increase efficiency and service quality. A high degree of communication competency that allows for succinct and digestible information to be dispersed to a wide variety of stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and resources effectively while maintaining attention to detail. Skill in analyzing operational challenges, identifying solutions, and implementing process improvements. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. Working Conditions Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during lapses in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late-night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during lapses in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. Moderate (carrying of items less than 50 pounds). Work requires frequent physical effort, including walking, bending, crawling, and standing for long durations. Physical dexterity in the use of fingers and limbs in the operation of hand equipment.
