Job Description

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of normal safety precautions to avoid everyday risks and discomforts. Work requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and carrying items up to 25 pounds, as well as regular use of typical office equipment, software programs, and methods of communication such as a computer, email, telephone, and photocopier. Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required for performance of duties. Work also requires physical presence in the office, except as otherwise required by the Office of the Secretary. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Work requires a bachelor’s degree in intelligence studies, international relations, political science, criminal justice, or a related field with three or more years of progressive experience in intelligence analysis, counterintelligence, threat analysis, security operations, protective intelligence, or related national security fields, and the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Demonstrated experience producing written analytical products and delivering briefings to senior-level audiences. Knowledge of foreign intelligence threats, counterintelligence principles, insider threat indicators, cybersecurity risks, and/or hostile foreign influence activities. Experience working with or alongside elements of the Intelligence Community, Department of War, federal law enforcement, or other national security organizations. Demonstrated success in managing competing priorities with minimal supervision, combined with strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to brief and interact professionally with Senators, Senate Leadership, senior staff, executive branch officials, and other high-level stakeholders using tact and diplomacy. Ability to communicate complex threat and security information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Excellent judgment, professional demeanor, discretion, and flexibility in handling sensitive or classified information. Experience supporting or developing security awareness, defensive counterintelligence, or training programs is highly desirable. Knowledge of the Senate as an institution is preferred, with a desire and willingness to learn more about the legislative process and Senate operations. Ability to remain apolitical as a non-partisan staffer and treat Senators and staff from any party with respect and impartiality. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience developing or managing security awareness and defensive counterintelligence programs. Experience briefing senior government officials or executive leadership audiences. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS United States citizenship. Eligible Top Secret clearance required, Active TS//SCI preferred.
