Job Description

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of normal safety precautions to avoid everyday risks and discomforts. Work requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and carrying items up to 25 pounds, as well as regular use of typical office equipment, software programs, and methods of communication such as a computer, email, telephone, and photocopier. Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required for performance of duties. Work also requires physical presence in the office, except as otherwise required by the Office of the Secretary. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Work requires a high school diploma or GED (bachelor’s degree preferred) with one to three years of experience; and the following knowledge, skills, and abilities. Relevant experience supporting security operations, administrative programs, military operations, law enforcement, intelligence, or government security programs is preferred. Demonstrated interest in personnel security, document control, physical security, access control, security operations, or related security disciplines. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, professionalism, and flexibility when handling sensitive or classified information. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to organize and maintain administrative records, schedules, and operational documentation. Ability to use tact and diplomacy when interacting with Senate staff, external partners, and senior government officials. Ability to learn and apply security policies, procedures, and operational guidelines. Experience supporting continuity, emergency preparedness, military, intelligence, or security-related programs is desirable. Basic knowledge of the Senate as an institution is preferred, with a desire and willingness to learn more about the legislative process and Senate operations. Ability to process, sort, and file forms and records. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS United States citizenship. Ability to obtain a TS//SCI security clearance and RD access.
