Other Duties/ Responsibilities Participates in on-site and on-call rotation. Required Work Experience Three to five years of relevant work experience (GED), one to two years (Associates), one year (Bachelor’s). Required Special Skills/ Knowledge As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role. Knowledge of systems and how they are managed in the SAA for group assignments. Skill in critical thinking to identify strengths, weaknesses, alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to section problems. Ability to analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware and software problems or route to a higher level. Knowledge of operating systems and server administration with the ability to administer accounts and perform maintenance activities. The ability to understand enterprise systems and how they function in the environment. Desired Qualifications Strong experience troubleshooting enterprise IT systems, servers, and infrastructure in Windows and/or Linux environments. Demonstrated ability to analyze system, server, and application error logs to identify root causes and resolve technical issues efficiently. Experience installing, managing, and renewing SSL/TLS certificates across enterprise systems and applications. Proficient in patch management, system updates, and maintaining security compliance across servers and endpoints. Experience supporting and troubleshooting server infrastructure, network connectivity, DNS, DHCP, and related enterprise services. Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to investigate and resolve complex technical issues. Hands-on experience with system monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure troubleshooting tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose issues and implement effective solutions. Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong customer service and teamwork abilities. Experience with virtualization platforms, cloud technologies, or enterprise infrastructure tools preferred. Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field preferred. Working Conditions The U.S. Senate network cannot be taken offline for maintenance during the workday, or while the Senate is in session. As such, maintenance windows may only occur at night, on weekends, and occasionally on holidays. Employees who perform systems upgrades, maintenance, wiring, backups, support our alternate data centers will have schedules that include working nights, weekends, and holidays. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee be available and prepared to work during a lapse, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during a lapse, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions. Security Clearance This position requires that the applicant obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government security clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens in order for the SAA to submit your application for a security clearance.
