Job Summary

This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command. Serve as a Public Affairs Specialist responsible for coordinating public affairs training requirements and strategies of assigned areas of Joint Planning Support Element (JPSE) sponsored or supported joint training events; exercise communication strategies and activities for assigned geographic command(s).

You may qualify at the GS-12/13 if you fulfill the following qualifications: For the GS 12 position, one year of specialized experience or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Executing public affairs events integrating media relations, social media, community/Congressional relations, and internal information. Implementing public affairs tactics, techniques, and procedures to support and amplify senior leaders' priorities, mission and organizational objectives. Advising top management officials in all aspects of the public affairs program. Making oral presentations to varied publics (local, national and international) and informing them of missions, functions and activities. For the GS-13 position, one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Executing comprehensive public affairs events integrating media relations, social media, community/Congressional relations, internal information, especially within Joint Operations. Implementing public affairs tactics, techniques, and procedures to support and amplify senior leaders' priorities, mission and organizational objectives. Advising top management officials in all aspects of the public affairs program, recommending strategies and applying new approaches to the most difficult and complex public affairs problems. Making oral presentations to varied publics (local, national and international) and informing them of missions, functions and activities of JPSE and its overall relationship to the national defense effort. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
