Job Summary
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is accepting applications for Summer 2025 Student Volunteers. MSHA works to prevent death, illness, and injury in mining; and to promote safe and healthful workplaces for U.S. miners. MSHA carries out the provisions of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 (Mine Act), as amended by the Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response (MINER) Act of 2006.
Job Description
Administrative Support (1 position in Washington, DC/Arlington, VA) and Data Analyst (1 Position in Washington DC/Arlington, VA) Enforcement: - Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is preferred. - Ability to organize a variety of assignments simultaneously to meet deadlines. - Ability to research, analyze and evaluate information. - An interest in public administration, public policy, or public service. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Excellent interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively in an in-office, telework, or combination of both (hybrid) work setting (if applicable). - Ability to work well in a team environment. Data Analyst (PEIR) (Washington, DC/Arlington, VA): - Ability to create tables and formulas and other statistical programs such as R, SAS, Python, and/or Tableau. - Ability to evaluate and verify data quality, accuracy, and/or limitations. - Conduct statistical analyses and prepares data. - Apply statistical theories and techniques to create and distribute data reports and other correspondence. - Make recommendations on data findings and solutions for program improvement. Policy Analyst (PEIR) (Washington, DC/Arlington, VA): - Ability to research, analyze and evaluate information. - An interest in public administration, public policy, or public service. - Ability to organize a variety of assignments simultaneously to meet deadlines. - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
