Job Summary

You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST (RADIOACTIVE SPECIALIST) in the Radiological Work Facility (Code 308) under the Radiological Work Facility Manager (C300N.3), Nuclear Production Manager (Code 300N), of the Production Resource Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Job Description

GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying comprehensive DOT regulations (Title 49 CFR) and NAVSEA directives to legally certify and manage the transport of highly sensitive radioactive and hazardous materials Experience evaluating carrier capabilities and approving customized blocking, bracing, and tie-down arrangements for oversized shipment. Experience certifying shipment readiness by signature based on physical inspections and radiological survey data. Experience adapting standard procedures to resolve unpredictable regulatory friction. Experience with briefing personnel while drafting updates to Shipyard transportation instructions. GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (Title 49 CFR) and NAVSEA directives to classify, package, mark, and label hazardous materials. Experience preparing routine shipping papers and status reports. Experience coordinating commercial freight operations and verifying standard load-securing methods. Experience communicating standard transportation procedures to personnel Experience assisting in the planning of material movements while addressing predictable transport-related delays.
