Job Summary

As an HR Specialist (Classification) at the GS-0201-13, you will be part of the Workforce Management Division, Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If selected, you will be responsible for providing technically authoritative expertise and program management leadership in the areas of classification, position management (policies, reorganizations, and realignments), and HR management evaluations (desk audits).

Job Description

For the GS-13: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Specialized experience may include: 1) interpreting and advising on OPM position classification standards; 2) applying position classification and position management principles, concepts, and practices; 3) applying classification standards to develop and evaluate position descriptions; 4) providing guidance on position management and organizational structure; and 5) familiarity with desk audits, reviewing classification actions, determining the correct pay category, occupational series, title, and grade levels, and preparing evaluation reports. Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS- 13 level. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements (e.g., time-in-grade and qualification requirements) within 30 days of the closing date specified in the vacancy announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
