You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTOR LEADER in the Nondestructive Test Division (Code 135.2), Quality Assurance Office (Code 130) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Ability to obtain certification as an NDT inspector in the following methods: VT (Visual Inspection), PT (Liquid Penetrant Inspection), MT (Magnetic Particle Inspection) as well as the following major NDT method: UT (Ultrasonic Shearwave Inspection),or ET (Eddy Current Analysis Inspection), or RT (Radiographic Film Interpreter) or RIC (Radiographer In Charge). Ability to utilize a wide array of highly sophisticated quality control inspection/ NDT techniques; Ability to utilize unique and specially designed precision instruments and gauges; Ability to interpret complicated written technical material such as instructions, TGI's, specifications, procedures, sketches, and blueprints. Ability to independently interpret and analyze inspection test results and determining final acceptance/rejection of items in accordance with specific codes. Ability to participate in audits and prepare charts and status reports on progress while inspections are being completed.
