Job Summary

You will serve as a ELECTRIC POWER CONTROLLER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST. This position is being recruited for the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) and may subsequently be realigned under the Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC).

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Distributing and controlling electrical energy through primary electrical distribution system connecting a commercial power source, Government-operated power plant, and numerous substations and switching stations. 2) Operating alternate current and direct current switchboards to control and distribute electrical power through the primary distribution system. 3) Operating controls to actuate remotely controlled circuit breakers, transformers and switches to regulate and maintain proper voltage on the feeders. 4) Monitoring load indicator gauges to detect large changes in load and operates turbo alternator or diesel generator controls, changing the governor setting, adapting to these load changes, and maintains the optimum demand on commercial sources. 5) Analyzing a variety of interrelated meter indications to detect abnormal conditions such as circuit overloads, improper line voltages, and temperature.
