You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the MODELING AND FORECASTING DEPARTMENT (N5) of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.
Job Description
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience reviewing, evaluating, modifying, and developing new operational oceanographic processing and analysis systems, algorithms, procedures, and techniques. - Experience utilizing analytical and statistical procedures for the scientific interpretation of physical oceanographic data, both observed and modeled, and in the presentation of the findings of such analyses. - Experience utilizing theoretical principles, theories, practices, and techniques of physical oceanography and marine environment for scientific analysis. - Experience verifying and evaluating oceanographic databases, oceanographic analysis and assimilation systems, and oceanographic dynamic models for accuracy and utility in solving operational oceanographic problems.
