Job Summary

You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT 200, Propulsion Machinery Branch, Code 266 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Job Description

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using special interface and control requirements associated with total ship/system engineering/design work for non-nuclear propulsion plant cognizant compartments, systems that include but are not limited to propulsion turbines, main reduction gears, ships service turbine generators, feed pumps, propulsion shafting, bearing, seals, and propellers, and other various supporting equipment and systems including pumps, valves, and control systems. Experience performing technical evaluation of changes to general overhaul of specifications for surface ships and submarines or similar; Experience identifying and resolving problems encountered during modernization, repair, installation, grooming, or testing phases of waterfront production efforts; Experience selecting materials to support planned production schedules. Experience applying knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts and principles. Experience providing technical guidance and leadership for projects. Experience accomplishing installation and maintenance of ships and submarine propulsion components and systems including overhaul and repairs or similar.
