Job Summary

You will serve as a Fire Protection Engineer in the Design Department, Planning, Design & Construction Directorate of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic. This is a developmental position with a full performance level of GS-13.

Job Description

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Working as a fire protection engineer in facility planning, design and construction; 2) Developing building code analysis including construction type, building height, area, calculating increases based on separation, and sprinkler protection; 3) Developing Life Safety Code analysis including occupancy type, identifying travel distance, common path of travel, dead end corridor, egress capacity, and separation of hazards; and 4) Reviewing sprinkler and fire alarm shop drawing submittals, applying working knowledge of NFPA 13 and 72.
