Job Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INTERDISCIPLINARY in the FLEET NUMERICAL METEOROLOGY AND OCEANOGRAPHY CENTER (FNMOC) of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.

Job Description

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, to qualify for a GS-14, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience demonstrating knowledge of physical science with emphasis in oceanography, ionosphere or meteorology in order to define, initiate, and provide guidance for major projects in these fields and demonstrate expert understanding in order to review work produced for technical soundness and conformance to accepted standards of content and format. Experience overseeing improvements to numerical environmental forecast guidance and to the performance of tactical decision aids for one or more major product areas. Experience displaying knowledge of a wide variety of data processing software, procedures for data validation, and physical science, oceanography, ionosphere, and meteorology work processes and terminology. Experience applying knowledge of policies and practices of supervision and personnel management to motivate, train and work effectively with subordinates, accomplish assigned tasks within set limits of time and cost, plan own work and carry out assignments effectively, understand and further management goals as they affect day-to-day work operations, and develop improvements in or design new work methods and procedures. Experience utilizing management skills such as leadership, interpersonal skills, customer service, decision-making, flexibility, organizational awareness, team building, problem solving and performance evaluation sufficient to ensure the effective working of a team; professional training in project management practices sufficient to ensure successful completion of all stages of a project, including initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing the project. Experience enforcing Federal procurement rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
