Job Summary

You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the GEO INT Analysis Division (NP2 l ), Warfighting Support Center (WSC), Naval Oceanographic Office (NA VOCEANO) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Job Description

GS-12 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in applying theories, principles, and policies of oceanography, hydrology, and remote sensing to coastal and riverine environments is required. Experience in utilizing image processing and geographic information systems involves understanding both their capabilities and their limitations. Experience with GIS and remote sensing tools is necessary to manipulate and evaluate complex oceanographic and riverine data. Experience in remote sensing exploitation techniques must be demonstrated through practical application. Experience in the tactical use of the environment is essential for supporting Naval Special Warfare and Amphibious Warfare. Experience with the physical environment is required to plan and execute Special Operations and other specialized missions. Experience in assessing riverine conditions ensures operational success in complex aquatic environments.
