Job Summary
This position is in the Washington Headquarters Service, Raven Rock Mountain Complex (RRMC) in the fire and Emergency Services Division. Serves as Assistant Fire Chief and Shift Supervisor for an underground facility which includes multiple other sites, all with substantial quantities and varieties of valuable equipment and supplies to perform their mission.
Job Description
You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: 1. Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; AND 2. Performing rescue operations; Performing detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; Operating fire communications equipment; AND 3.Controlling hazardous materials incidents; and/or developing, implementing, and/or providing training in fire protection and prevention. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In accordance with DoDM 6055.06M determines DoD Firefighter Pre-qualification Certifications: Pro Board, International Fire Services Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or DoD certifications in Firefighter 1/11, HAZMAT Awareness, Operations and Technician, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, Driver/Operator-Pumper, Drive/Operator Mobile Water Supply, Airport Firefighter and Driver/Operator Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Public Telecommunicator I and II, Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Instructor IL Additional Required Training (Non-Proboard/IFSAC/DoD): Certifications for Confined Space Rescue Awareness, Confined Space Operations, and Emergency Vehicle Operators Course(EVOC) - Must successfully complete and maintain EVOC certification through an approved provider. EVOC is required in addition to any driver/operator certifications listed above.
