Job Summary

You will serve as a Shipbuilding Specialist in the Waterfront Operations (440), Contracting Office (400), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Job Description

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with planning, answering reports and inspection deficiency reports and providing information pertinent to the proper execution, implementation and recording of the surveillance program for the availability as assigned. Experience with functions such as administration, contracting, engineering, production, material supply systems, and workload scheduling. Experience with analyzing reports, detailed statements of work, and providing estimates of labor and material requirements. Experience with executing, implementing, and recording of the surveillance program to ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Experience with ship repair and overhaul programs pertaining to nuclear Submarines and Aircraft Carriers. Experience with problem solving and providing alternatives to assist in solving technical problems associated with all facets of ship maintenance. GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working with naval shipyard policies and procedures related to engineering, planning, production, safety and administration. Experience interpreting drawings, plans, specifications, job orders, and other documents used by the Production Resources Department Shops. Experience identifying basic ship types, configurations, and systems to facilitate shipboard onsite inspections of failed systems/components. Experience with quality assurance concepts, principles, and methodology used in the shipyard's Quality Assurance program. Experience performing surveillances, investigative and analysis methods and techniques to conduct effective surveillances investigations.
