Job Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA.

Job Description

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action; 2) Operating firefighting vehicles and equipment in accordance with principles of hydraulics and firefighting techniques; 3) Providing emergency assistance (first aid, HAZMAT, etc.) in accordance with safety standards and regulations; 4) Applying the theory of fire propagation and progression to reduce fire hazards and/or combat fires; and 5) Performing supervisory duties such as managing, organizing, directing, providing technical leadership and guidance, assigning and prioritizing work, position management, evaluating work performance of subordinates and resolving disciplinary issues. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Firefighter I & Firefighter II, Fire Officer I & Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HAZMAT Awareness, Operations, Technician and HAZMAT Incident Command (under NFPA standards adopted by DOD), Driver Operator Pumper, and possess National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NR-EMT) certification. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached a copy of your transcript or certifications, you will be rated ineligible. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585.
