Job Summary

You will serve as a PAINTING WORK LEAD in the Production Lines Division and MRO Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. The duty location of this position is Naval Air Station, San Diego, CA.

Job Description

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE performing duties such as: 1) Leading, training and directing a team of Painters; 2) Ensuring that all painting and inspections of aircraft and components are conducted in accordance with prescribed standards and specifications; 3) Overseeing the preparation of aircraft and components for painting, ensuring compliance with technical directives, and aiding with quality control procedures; 4) Leading a team of Painters, ensuring tasks are communicated, deadlines met, and quality supported; 5) Assigning tasks based on priorities, monitors progress, and adjusts schedules as needed; 6) Providing technical advice on complex painting issues and deciding on work methods; 7) Inspecting work for compliance with technical requirements, blueprints, and safety standards; 8) Ensuring aircraft and components are prepared and painted per standards, inspecting cleanliness, verifying specialty coatings, and measuring thickness with precision tools; and 9) Demonstrating a thorough understanding of aircraft and components painting processes, including surface preparation, and specialized coatings (e.g., elastomeric and conductive).
