Job Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Engineering and Planning Department, working directly for the Chief Engineer (Code 240) at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.

Job Description

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing technical/engineering guidance and advice in detail for complex maintenance, repair, construction, and overhaul of a variety of naval vessel classes of conventional and nuclear ships. Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents for complex nuclear and non-nuclear ship class systems and alterations. Experience and technical knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and structural systems/components and extensive practical knowledge of such systems and equipment with regard to their installation, operation, and interface with other systems. Experience executing complex administrative, technical and/or professional work, which directly and substantially affects the successful execution of a project. Experience defining problems and developing the best approach to the planning of projects. Experience planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, establishing priorities and timelines.
