Job Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the Facilities Support Branch (Code 985), Production Engineering Manager Division (Code 980), Production Facilities and Equipment Manager (Code 900F), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience implementing the organizational policies and procedures, interfaces, communications and operations of the shipyard to be able to manage labor and non-labor resources in an efficient and effective manner. Experience planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work. Experience possessing a high level of managerial skills and the ability to interpret, organize and co matters. Experience conducting interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommend appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions; hear and resolve complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher level supervisor or manager; effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases; and identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Experience supporting and promoting all aspects of the Equal Opportunity Program (EEO) and Affirmative Action Program, as directed by the applicable laws and regulations, and communicate this support to subordinates, minority groups, and women. Experience applying the mastery of, and skill in applying expertise in advanced engineering or architectural theories, principals, concepts, standards and methods sufficient to provide expert engineering advice to senior Shipyard management on the maintenance, repair, and alteration of all NNSY tenant facilities, piers and roads. Experience with the principles, practices and techniques of the trade skills involved in non-­ nuclear work, with material procurement, receipt, inspection, storage and accounting. Experience displaying a broad technical knowledge and understanding of scientific and engineering principals are required of all disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical/electronics and civil), in the application of ship maintenance, repair, construction and operation. Experience with corporate application, Facilities and Equipment Maintenance (FEM) system.
