Job Summary
You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the C51 SYSTEMS DIVISION (CODE 290), ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT (CODE 200) of the NAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
Job Description
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience as a resident expert supporting an Integrated Bridge System (IBS) and Integrated Bridge Navigation System (IBNS), AN/WSN-7 Gyro, Automated Information System (AIS), Navigation Sensory System Interface (NAVSSI), Global Positioning System- Positioning, Navigation and Timing Service (GPNTS), AN/WSN-9, and associated auxiliary systems and subsystems for shipboard navigation equipment well as advanced proficiency in troubleshooting. Experience utilizing extensive knowledge of shipboard electronics and general computer networking to pinpoint and resolve technical issues, ensuring the functionality of integrated circuits, auxiliary equipment, and integrated networked equipment while precluding disruptions to operational schedules. Experience providing guidance, technical assistance, and mentorship to technicians in troubleshooting shipboard exterior communications systems. Experience recommending and implementing maintenance, repair actions, and technical solutions to support the operational goals and mission requirements for all shipboard exterior communications systems and peripheral equipment. Experience applying a basic understanding of shipboard electronics and general computer networking to assist in identifying and resolving issues affecting integrated circuits, auxiliary/peripheral equipment, and shipboard exterior communications systems. Experience providing support to senior technicians in troubleshooting exterior communication systems and training equipment and contributes to maintenance and repair efforts to ensure system readiness.
