Job Description
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional MECHANICAL ENGINEER performing a variety of engineering projects related to aviation platforms to include Fixed/Rotary wing and Propulsion systems. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Evaluating the effect of proposed changes to the design, maintenance/repair and logistics support of aircraft components and related equipment; 2) Conducting in-depth studies and analyses of specific technical issues related to mechanical systems managed by both NAVSUP WSS and DLA; 3) Conducting required engineering reviews on complex critical application items reviewing Source Approval Request (SAR) packages forwarded for final engineering approval; and 4) Providing recommendations and proposed solutions to problems such as alternative testing, information sources, etc. to department equipment specialists reviewing requests for source approval for Critical Application Items.
