Job Summary

You will serve as a PRODUCTION SHIP SUPERINTENDENT in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Job Description

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with shipyard work operations and shop practices, pertaining to all phases of ship repair and overhaul. Experience with production control, budget control, determining material availability and personnel management. Experience providing guidance on the ship repairs process and coordinating necessary corrective actions involving production errors. Experience making recommendations to techniques and procedures resulting in increased efficiency; and effectively communicating both orally and in writing in order to inform, advise, train, guide, or persuade a variety of audiences. Experience managing job order costs, work progress reports, manpower allotment and material availability.
