Job Summary
As a senior Industrial Hygienist with the Environmental and Health Services Office, you will develop, implement, and maintain Center-level environmental and occupational health programs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and NASA requirements. You will maintain oversight of the Center's environmental and occupational health programs and support administration of the occupational medical clinic.
Job Description
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-11, you must have: a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level: Conducting exposure assessments involving chemical, physical, or biological hazards by collecting and analyzing data, comparing results to established standards, and recommending measures to support occupational health and regulatory compliance; Assessing occupational health hazards in a variety of workplace settings (industrial, laboratory, office); Utilizing a variety of exposure assessment methodologies for chemical, physical and biological hazards; OR b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field OR c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field. OR d) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b) and c) above To qualify for GS-12, you must have: a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Evaluating occupational hazards, conducting exposure assessments, and supporting compliance with State, Federal, and organizational requirements. Responding to events with occupational health hazards, mitigating occupational health hazards; advising management to ensure the health and safety of employees. Analyzing a variety of exposure assessment methodologies for chemical, physical and biological hazards; utilizing a variety of techniques to anticipate and control potentially dangerous situations in the workplace and the community. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Providing guidance and consultation for concepts, principles, or practices of Health Physics to ensure employee safety; Supporting occupational health programs to ensure compliance with state and federal, and organizational requirements.
