You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator (Materials Handler) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Motor Vehicle Operator (Material Handler) duties. I can 1) operate a truck with a gross vehicle weight rating of 11,000 pounds and air brakes; 2) secure cargo using tie down ropes, straps, or tarpaulin; 3) operate forklifts capable of lifting 2,000 to 15,000 pounds; and 4) use a computer to enter, revise, and retrieve data. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Motor Vehicle Operator: Driver uses more than moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls of assigned vehicle. Materials Handler: Works on hard surfaces and areas that require continuous walking, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and walking up and down stairs. May work at rapid pace for extended periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items up to 80 pounds, occasionally lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds. Is required to push heavily loaded hand trucks and dollies, or drive forklift to handle heavier objects. Working Conditions: Motor Vehicle Operator: Works mostly outside, operating vehicles in all types of weather and installation traffic. Materials Handler: Works inside and outside in all types of weather. Employee is exposed to dirt, fumes and grease, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects while loading, unloading ammunition.
