Job Summary

This position is located in the Vehicle Performance Division, Office of Research and Engineering. The incumbent will serve as a Video Analyst whose primary duties are to use computational tools to analyze recorded video, photographs and audio to determine vehicle motion and vehicle operating configuration in an accident, and to document findings in written reports.

For the GS-12 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrates the ability to apply industry-accepted principles, techniques and practices of engineering along with existing software to conduct complex analyses and extraction of vehicle motions/sequence of events from recorded video and audio; and ability to resolve technical challenges in extraction of vehicle motions/sequence of events from recorded video and audio when standard methods are not successful or available. For the GS-13 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience developing new mathematical models, analysis procedures and/or software to address novel/complex investigation scenarios; applying industry-accepted principles, techniques and practices of engineering along with existing software to conduct complex analyses and extraction of vehicle motions/sequence of events from recorded video and audio; and resolving technical challenges in extraction of vehicle motions/sequence of events from recorded video and audio when standard methods are not successful or available.
