Job Summary

You will serve as a Administrative Officer for the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex. This position serves as an Administrative Officer, an integral member of the management team, providing a wide range of administrative services, advice, and counsel for a complex organization within the Fish and Wildlife Service (Service). Salary: $61,722 - $80,243 per year. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Job Description

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/29/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. General Experience Requirement: To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level: Specialized Experience Requirement: you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for this occupation. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Monitoring the status of funds, tracking organizational expenditures, and reconciling budget reports to prevent overspending; Processing and reconciling fiscal documents, such as purchase orders, travel vouchers, and procurement receipts; Use of excel spreadsheets and various financial system databases to analyze, summarize, reconcile and report financial data; and responds to a variety of incoming administrative requests and questions from employees, managers, and the public. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- Education: Successful completion of at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field, such as Business Administration or Public Administration and that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this work or a LL.B. or J.D., if related. NOTE: To qualify under this option, you must submit transcripts (official or unofficial) to verify your education.. -OR- Combination of education and experience. The combination of specialized experience and directly related graduate level education (both as described above) that, when computed as percentages of their respective requirements, equals at least 100% when combined. Only graduate education beyond the first year is creditable to meet this standard. NOTE: To qualify under this option you must submit transcripts (official or unofficial) to verify your education. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
