Job Description

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All on board permanent and indefinite T5 federal employees within the Oregon National Guard Area 2: All on board permanent and indefinite T32 federal technicians within the Oregon National Guard Area 3: All current non-permanent technicians/employees (T5 and T32) of the Oregon National Guard Area 4: All current and former members of the Oregon National Guard (former members must provide documentation showing membership in the Oregon National Guard such as an NGB 22 or DD214) Area 5: U.S. citizens GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Work involves professional work in the physical sciences when there is no other more appropriate series, or work in a combination of physical science fields, with no one predominant. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown under education that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Physical Demands: The work requires regular and recurring field inspections, investigations or surveys, requiring walking, stooping, bending, lifting and climbing. For example the incumbent may be required to move and physically inspect drums of hazardous waste material for proper packaging and markings. Work Environment: The work is typically performed in an office environment that is adequately lighted and climate controlled. However, site visits regularly expose the incumbent to moderate risks, discomforts, and unpleasantness such as: high noise levels, infectious materials, or toxic or irritating chemicals; dust; aircraft exhaust; inclement weather; noxious fumes; flammable liquids; etc. Work may be performed during both daytime and night time hours in unlighted or dimly lighted areas. Special safety precautions such as protective clothing and gear are necessary. Supervisory Controls: Receives general supervision and assignments from the installation Environmental Program Manager are in terms of broad functional responsibilities, goals, and objectives. Individual projects or work to be done, priorities and deadlines are established by the employee in consultation with the supervisor. Work is normally accepted as technically accurate but subjected to review upon completion for achievement of objectives, conformance to policy, and compatibility with the work of other installation organizations.
