Job Summary

NIST is seeking electricians to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems that support NIST facilities, laboratories, and critical operations. In this role, you will work with complex electrical systems, controls, and equipment; interpret electrical drawings and specifications; and ensure work meets National Electrical Code and safety requirements.

Job Description

There is no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform electrician work at the Journeyman level, such as installation, maintenance and repair, without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
