Job Summary

This position is for a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, PD#D1912P01, part of the Nevada Army National Guard. The purpose of the position is to: Plan, manage and direct the daily Commercial Traffic Management Program for both equipment and passenger movements; develop traffic management programs for both peacetime and wartime; provide technical traffic management advisory services; establish operating requirements; and formulate local commercial traffic management policies.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience that provides a general knowledge and under-standing of traffic or transportation programs or operations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, experience, education, or training, involving the movement of freight or passengers and determining transportation and operating costs. As well as experience participating in the direction and coordination of traffic management functions and experience interpreting and providing routine advice on carrier tariffs and related routing guides. Interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively, experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures; experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges. Experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement and experience in making effective presentations both orally and in writing. May substitute education OR a certificate as Certified Member, American Society of Transportation and Logistics for minimum and specialized experience.
