Job Summary
There are multiple positions as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) for various divisions at the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Intermountain Region YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, WYOMING. Government housing is not provided. Pay will vary based on grade level for which you're selected. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 09/04/2026 whichever comes first. Job Description
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/04/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. If you do not provide evidence that you possess the following selective factor(s), you will be rated not qualified. Selective Factor: The duties of this position require the ability to type at least 40 words per minute based on a five-minute typing test with three or fewer mistakes. Applicants must indicate on their resume that they meet this requirement. Applications that do not document the required typing speed will receive no further consideration for this position. -AND- Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level: Experience: You must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience performing administrative functions such as payroll, personnel, travel, procurement, budget, and/or formal correspondence. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- Education: Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. You must include transcripts. -OR- Combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, only education is excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to 1 year of specialized experience. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include hours per week and transcripts. To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level: Experience: You must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience performing a wide variety of advanced administrative functions such as coordinating payroll, prepared and entered personnel actions, coordinating travel arrangements, managing a procurement system, and preparing, tracking, and reconciling an organization's budget. You must include hours per week worked. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level: Experience: You must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience performing a wide variety of advanced administrative functions such as advising employees on payroll regulations and serving as payroll coordinator; Serving as liaison with Human Resources by preparing and entering personnel actions, processing employee paperwork, and coordinating background investigations; Serving as the technical advisor for travel processes and regulations; Advising on procurement; Performing budget and financial management by collecting data for a budget, making recommendations, tracking expenditures, creating budgetary reports, and reconciling an organization's budget. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
