Job Summary
NIH seeks an experienced leader to serve as Branch Chief in the Office of Budget. The incumbent leads NIH-wide budget formulation, modeling, and resource planning activities supporting approximately 27 appropriations and funding decisions. The position supervises a team of budget professionals, advises senior leadership on budget policy and Congressional matters, and provides strategic guidance to ensure effective stewardship of federal resources in support of NIH's biomedical research mission.
Job Description
In order to qualify at the GS-15 level, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Leading complex budget formulation, financial analysis, and resource management activities for large organizations or programs. Managing budget models, forecasts, and analyses involving multiple appropriations or funding sources. Advising senior executives on budget strategy, fiscal policy, and funding decisions. Supervising professional staff engaged in budget, financial, or policy analysis. Interpreting and applying appropriations law, federal budget guidance, and financial management policies. Coordinating with executive leadership, oversight organizations, and external stakeholders on budgetary matters. Developing recommendations and solutions to address high-impact financial and organizational challenges.
