Job Summary
The purpose of the position is to budget for and monitor the annual financial operations of the unit, provide budgetary guidance to program managers, and to ensure that the work objectives are met. Positions may be filled at any of the locations listed in this job announcement.
Job Description
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-02/03/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes 1) Applying the principles and practices of budget formulation to review, edit, and consolidate budget estimates; AND 2) Monitor budget expenditures and identify budget variances; AND 3) Prepare a variety of budgetary reports using automated financial systems and databases. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two full years of graduate level study leading to a master's or equivalent degree that is directly related to this position and has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Such fields may include business administration, economics, accounting, governmental budgeting, and public administration. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a COMBINATION of graduate education and experience as described above which total 100 percent. Only directedly related graduate education in excess of the first year is creditable when combining. For example, 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the experience) and 27 semester hours directly related to the position (50% of the education) is qualifying. You must include hours per week worked and include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
