Job Description

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: (For Current Federal Employees) One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Planning and directing the operations of subordinate firefighters; 2) Performing administrative and management tasks and 3) Completing incident analyses using knowledge of hazard and risk techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). (For Non-Federal Employees) One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Planning and directing the operations of subordinate firefighters; 2) Performing administrative and management tasks and 3) Completing incident analyses using knowledge of hazard and risk techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Additional Requirements: In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector II, Hazardous Material Incident Commander, Airport Firefighter, Fire Instructor II AND Formal Land Based Shipboard Firefighting certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06.
