About the Position: Serves as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager responsible for full range of safety program management principles to include marine terminal operations, transport of hazardous materials (to include arms, ammunition and explosives), industrial safety and occupational health responsibilities, and ensuring the integration of Risk Management into all operations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Managing the safe movement of diverse general and hazardous cargo by surface, and maritime modes; 2) Developing policies, instructions, procedures and/or regulations for application and implementation for the safety and occupational health program; 3) Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; 4) Inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards; AND 5) Evaluating reports of hazardous conditions and develop written courses of action with specific recommendations to mitigate risk and to prevent injury or property damage. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
