Job Summary

Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE six (6) years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a or term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MAINTENANCE WORKER without more than normal supervision. 1) Performing major and minor maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and interior and exterior structures related to building maintenance, 2) Repairing work involving trades such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, roofing, asphalt work, masonry, locksmith, and related work, and 3) Performing routine and emergency services on door locks. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT The incumbent is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and occasionally work in uncomfortable positions for short periods of time. Frequently lifts, carries, and set up material that weighs up to 45 lbs. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is done inside and outside with occasional exposure to inclement weather and the usual climate extremes. Subject to noisy, dusty, dirty, greasy, wet and slippery conditions, and vibration caused by power tool/equipment operation. There are the common dangers inherent in power tool operation such as cuts and bruises, and exposure to electrical shocks and burns. Exposed to solvents and other toxic chemical compounds. Must wear appropriate safety gear, equipment, and protective clothing such as: hard hat, mask, goggles, gloves, respirator, ear plugs, etc. as required.
