Job Description
Continue of Conditions of Employment: Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights. Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450 is used to assist agencies and employees to avoid conflicts between duties and financial interest. This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes I am an INSERVICE applicant and I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which 1) Overseeing the daily operational activities in the fire division; 2) Directing a crew of firefighters during emergency and non-emergency operations; and 3) Managing fire program management for the installation such as fire inspections, fire prevention/protection training, hazardous material handling, and emergency medical training. OR I am an OUSTIDE applicant and I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes 11) Overseeing the daily operational activities in the fire division; 2) Directing a crew of firefighters during emergency and non-emergency operations; and 3) Managing fire program management for the installation such as fire inspections, fire prevention/protection training, hazardous material handling, and emergency medical training; and 4) Assisting with the budget planning for the fire division. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Fire Officer III, Fire Officer IV, Fire Instructor I, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, DoD Hazardous Material Incident Commander, HazMat Technician, HazMat Operations, HazMat Awareness, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, First Aid Provider (FAP), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Driver or Operator Pumper, Driver or Operator Aerial, Driver or Operator Mobile Water Supply, and Wildland Firefighting certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M AND an Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (EMT-B), Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic (EMT-P), National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification Card indicating a future expiration date when applicable. Maximum Entry Age (MEA): The MEA for Firefighters is 37. Applicants not appointed by the last day of the month in which that individual reaches their 37th birthday shall not be appointed or assigned to these positions. Maximum Re-entry Age: An employee who previously served on a covered position may be rehired past the MEA as long as he/she is able to complete 20 years of covered service by his/her mandatory retirement age. The maximum re-entry age for the individual is calculated by determining the total amount of time he/she has served on a covered position and subtracting that from age 57, if a firefighter. The employee's current age is compared to the calculated maximum re-entry age to determine if he/she can be rehired into the covered position. Waivers to Maximum Entry Age: MEA may be waived, but only under specific circumstances and only if approved by the authorized entity: Waivers to MEA for firefighters must be approved by local Command.
