Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing non-invasive emergency procedures such as patient assessment and physical examination, determining priority of care, and recording patient baseline vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse, 2) applying hazard and risk assessment to conduct incident analysis of the release of potential release of hazardous materials, and 3) performing firefighting duties associated with buildings, shops, warehouses, storage areas, and light aircraft. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements above, applicants must also possess the Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations, Driver/Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator ARFF, Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply and Driver/Operator Aerial, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, NWCG Type II (S 130/190) in accordance with DoD Instruction 6055.6 and DoD Manual 6055.6M. Additionally, a current Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (CPR and AED) card and a current National Registry and/or State Emergency Medical Technician certification.
