Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-11 Grade Level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting in the review and interpretation of standard construction plans and specifications to monitor contractor compliance with established guidelines; 2) Performing routine surveillance and quality assurance inspections over contract construction projects within a local or designated assignment area; 3) Participating in construction safety meetings ;4) assisting in identifying or reporting job-site hazards to ensure compliance with safety regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Specialized Experience GS-12 Grade Level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Interpreting plans and specifications to ensure that contractor work is in compliance with construction practices; 2) Exercising surveillance over contract construction projects for extensive geographic areas; 3) Conducting safety meetings to provide training for lower-graded construction inspectors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
