Job Description

Click here for more information on SRC for Firefighters (Secondary) Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience responding to fire and crash emergencies, emergency medical, and HAZMAT situations; 2) Experience planning work schedules for assigned crews and establishes a sequence of operations to ensure an equitable distribution of work among crewmembers; and 3) Establishing and updating division policies and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the specialized experience required to qualify for the GS-11 level you must also possess and maintain ALL the following Department of Defense (or reciprocal equivalent) certification, certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M. Must possess and maintain DoD Firefighter Certifications: Fire Officer III Fire Instructor III Fire Inspector II HAZMAT Incident Commander Airport Firefighter NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of ALL the required certificates to your application package.
