Job Description
Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that includes (1) Implementing the incident command system, utilizing support groups to include police, safety, fire protection and mutual aid components; (2) responding to hazardous materials incidents, using specialized personal protective equipment; (3) coordinating the operation of the firefighting crew; (4) monitoring status and progress of assignments and making adjusts to meet priorities. his definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess: CPR, Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, Apparatus Driver/Operator-Pumper, Apparatus Driver Operator-Aerial, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Technical certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M AND a CURRENT State of Illinois or National Registry EMT Certification Card indicating a future expiration date.
