Job Description
Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service which includes (1) instructing firefighter personnel in classroom and hands-on training; (2) taking part in conducting drills to test readiness; (3) discussing fire hazards and deficiencies; and (4) participating in committees and working groups to support the mission. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess: Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, and Incident Safety Officer certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M and Emergency Medical Technician, EMT-Basic certification (or higher) from the state of Kansas or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Card indicating a future expiration date.
