Job Description
About the Position: Estimated annual pay range based on 60-hour workweek is $ 94,800-123,276. Salary based on 120 hour work schedule. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) implementing fire protection and prevention strategies or programs, 2) providing training to personnel in fire protection and prevention, 3) detecting, reducing, and/or eliminating potential fire hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the first lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the specialized experience and/or education required to qualify for the GS-08 level you must also possess and maintain ALL the following Department of Defense (or reciprocal equivalent) certification, certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M. Must possess and maintain DoD Firefighter Certifications: Fire Inspector I & II Fire Instructor I, Hazardous Material Operations, Firefighter I & II Firefighting and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic or higher) certification from the state of New York or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
