Job Description
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have general experience includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have the experience and knowledge of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is/are subject to the possibility of a random drug test. 2. Incumbent must qualify and remain qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent will be required to use firearms in performing duties. 3. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 4. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain required security clearance associated with the position. 5. The incumbent must wear a DAF Police Officer uniform as identified in the DAF Police AFI and required to meet dress and appearance standards when supporting non-DoD agencies IAW the AFI. Dual Status technicians, military uniform will be worn at the discretion of the SFS commander. *6. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 7. Must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g., respirator mask). 8. Incumbent must complete a job compatibility assessment (Add: if Title 5. Title 32 Dual status technicians who are assigned to a military Security Forces unit are not required to complete a JCA to be hired to this PD) 9. Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate all security forces vehicles and installed equipment. 10. Subject to duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard in accordance with AFI 36-2646, Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Programs. 11. Must pass formal law enforcement training school as determined by NGB/A4 and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification. 12. Incumbent will be exposed to the day-to-day dangers associated with law enforcement and security duties. 13. Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. 14. Incumbent is required to obtain first responder training/certifications in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually. 15. Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques, and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations. 16. Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g., Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required). 17. This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs. 18. Must obtain and maintain a government travel card. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station. 19. The incumbent must obtain and maintain qualifications and/or certifications as identified by the hiring official of all equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the duties of the position. 20. Must complete the following duty position evaluations (DPEs) within the first two years of employment and be successfully re-evaluated in accordance with standards listed in AFI 36-2646, Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Program. The DPE qualifications must occur in this order; (1) Installation Entry Controller, (2) Patrolman/Security Response Team, (3) Alarm Monitor and (4) Base Defense Operations Center Controller/Dispatcher. 21. This position does not meet the definition of law enforcement officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annuity 1A W 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H. 22. The incumbent of this position is required to meet certain physical requirements and is required to ensure they provide a copy of any medical limitations as they occur. The incumbent must immediately report to his supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medication requirements. Duty limiting conditions will be assessed by Occupational Health to determine if the employee is able to perform the full scope of duties of the position. Physical Demands: Works on different terrain surfaces, in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, materials, weapons, and equipment that may weigh up to 50 pounds. May occasionally handle items that weigh up to 75 pounds. Specialized material handling equipment is available for heavier items. Work Environment: Work will require standing on feet for extended periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds and low/high crawling up to 25 meters. Work may take place in a variety of weather conditions. Work efforts include running short distances and move over, around, and through obstacles to heights of 10 feet. Walking is required (i.e., 1000 meters) and may occur in extreme temperatures over rough terrain. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of noisy conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment (e.g. ear plugs, eye protection, and gloves).
