THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2422000 and is part of the KS 184 Wing, National Guard.
Job Description
Military Grades: E2 through E6 Compatible Military Assignments: 2T0X1 *Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which involves developing policies and administering the management of traffic programs, plans and directs traffic operations within the program and performs necessary technical work involved in obtaining economical and efficient transportation of equipment, supplies, and personnel in support of these operations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade? Experience, education, or training, involving the movement of freight or passengers and determining transportation and operating costs. Experience participating in the direction and coordination of traffic management functions. Experience interpreting and providing routine advice on carrier tariffs and related routing guides. Interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively. Experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures. Experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges. Experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement. Experience in making effective presentations both orally and in writing. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office or similar setting, involves minimal risk or discomfort, and requires normal safety precautions. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The incumbent performs the bulk of the work in an office environment and so observes normal safety precautions. Physical Effort: Work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required, such as walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items and that no special physical demands are required.
