Job Summary
This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing all formal National Security Council (NSC)-related correspondence; monitors all NSC actions; processes taskings to all J-5 Deputy Directorates; provides advice on processing NSC-related actions; maintains working liaison with the various agencies participating in the NSC system; monitors actions and meetings; and maintains official corporate records.
Job Description
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Analyze and synthesize information, write reports and brief senior leaders in the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Defense Agencies and Field Activities and the Military Services. Interprets policies and procedures governing Active and Reserve Component, joint (Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Marine Corps) General/Flag Officer (G/FO) management to help formulate legislation that may directly impact the general and flag officer population. Applies knowledge of program operation practices, tools, and methods to develop and manage programs that will further the 1- and 2-star nomination process. Utilizes strong written and verbal communication techniques to use tact and diplomacy and negotiation skills when working with management. Work effectively with office teammates and with counterparts in the Department of Defense (DoD) and outside agencies to prioritize tasks, deconflict competing demands, and complete tasks. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
