THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1975000 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Job Description

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Maximum Rank of E5 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education or training involving administration of supply management, storage, cataloging, packaging and distribution or other work which provided you with a general knowledge of one or more aspects of the supply field; experience using computer and automation systems. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07 Level. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-9 Level MUST possess at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of GS-7; demonstrated ability researching documents or other resources to coordinate inventory requirements; knowledge of stock levels, inventory, shipping, receiving, requisitioning and requirements of supplies and equipment; experience involving the control of supply stocks and accounting for equipment; knowledge of supply management, cataloging, maintenance, and disposal procedures; experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc; demonstrated experience with cost estimates, budgets, or funding management; experience conducting extensive and exhaustive searches for required information; reconstruct records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for supply activities. GS-7 Level MUST possess at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of GS-5; experience or training researching documents or other resources concerning inventory requirements; experience or training in stock levels and inventory; experience or training conducting searches for required information of records; providing supply operations support to customers. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
